چکیده

Sixteen rabbits were immunised against ovalbumin using the 2injection, 4-week regime described by Cooke (1988). At the end of the immunisation period, the animals were terminally anaesthetised with sodium pentobarbitone (average dose 42 mg kg, followed by an infusion of 19 mg kg h). Reflexes were evoked in the medial gastrocnemius (MG) muscle by electrical stimulation of the skin at the heel, and in S.E.M. tendinosus (ST) and tibialis anterior (TA) muscles by electrical stimulation of the skin at the base of the toes. Reflexes were averaged and integrated by computer. After a control period of 1 h, 5 mg ovalbumin in 100 ml of 0.9 % saline was injected subcutaneously either at the heel or at the base of the toes. Injection sites were always distal to the position of the nearby stimulating electrodes.

The Effect of Chronic Inflammation on Knee Joint Vascular β-adrenoceptors in Rabbit

It has been shown that inflammation reduces the effectiveness of sympathetic nerves in the regulation of knee joint blood flow, and the joint vascular- ß adrenoceptors are changed due to acute inflammation from a majority of ß-1 to an equality of ß-1 and ß-2 receptors.. To investigate the role of sympathetic nerves in nerve induced vasoconstriction and changes in joint vascular ß-adrenoceptors ...

Anti-inflammatory effect of alcoholic Datura steramonium seed extract in acute inflammation induced by formalin injection in hind paws of male NMRI rats

In the present study, the effect of Datura steramonium (DS) seed extract on acute inflammation induced by formalin injection was investigated. For this purpose, two control and treatment groups were selected and in order to induce pain, formalin (50 µl, 2.5%) was applied to the plantar surface of hind paws. In treatment group, 20-30 min before formalin injection, the DS seed extract was used i....

Involvement of spinal α2‐adrenoceptors in prolonged modulation of hind limb withdrawal reflexes following acute noxious stimulation in the anaesthetized rabbit

The role of spinal α2 -adrenoceptors in mediating long-lasting modulation of hind limb withdrawal reflexes following acute noxious chemical stimulation of distant heterotopic and local homotopic locations has been investigated in pentobarbitone-anaesthetized rabbits. Reflexes evoked in the ankle extensor muscle medial gastrocnemius (MG) by electrical stimulation of the ipsilateral heel, and ref...
